Thanks to a late inning surge, the San Diego Padres handled business on Friday to beat the Pirates and dodged a bullet after Fernando Tatis Jr. got hit by a pitch. Saturday's match-up also seems favorable as starter Randy Vasquez takes on Bailey Falter, but the weather once again seems to have other plans.

After experiencing a short rain delay Friday night, the weather really across the country is markedly worse on Saturday. Pittsburgh is clearly not immune as this matchup between the Padres and Pirates is officially in a rain delay.

Padres vs. Pirates Rain Delay 5/3: Here is when this game is expected to get started

So unlike some other games around the league, there is at least some hope that these two squads will be able to get this game in today. It was an afternoon game which creates a built-in time cushion to work with and the odds of rain do seem to decrease as we get further into the day. No guarantees, but we should see baseball today after a delay.

The Padres probably don't mind the delay given how things went after the rain left yesterday. Gavin Sheets hit is fourth home run of the season and Luiz Arraez had a big game after going 3-5 with a double and 3 RBI. Having Vasquez on the mound isn't the most encouraging thing in the world, but the offense is firing on all cylinders at least.

We will keep this post updated as more information becomes available as to what the weather is supposed to be doing and when this game will get started. You may want to get comfortable as there is a lot of rain around, but hopefully a window presents itself and we can see some Padres baseball today.

**Update: 5:03 PM EST/2:03 PM PST**

After around an hour of waiting around, we have a game start time or at least their best guess at one. Assuming the weather holds, this game will start at 2:45 PM PST (or 5:45 PM EST for the east coasters). Delay should end up being a little over 1.5 hours.
