San Diego Padres: Mid-Season Minor League All-Stars
In this article, we will take a look at my San Diego Padres mid-season minor league all-stars.
Different than the prospect list, this will highlight the best of the minor league first-half performers in the San Diego Padres organization. We will go position-by-position on the diamond.
It will consist of a full 25-man roster. Eight starters, a five-man bench, a starting five rotation, and a seven man bullpen.
You will definitely see prospects on this list, but it will be made up of the best of the first half in the organization, regardless of prospect status. Flat-out it will be who has performed the best.
Therefore you will see a name on this list who started the year in the Major Leagues a bit since, been sent back to the minors for some more development.
The starting rotation was by far the hardest to choose. There were twelve choices to choose from with all twelve deserving to make this list. The relievers were also hard to choose too.
Out of the players in the lineup, centerfield was the most difficult to choose however. With three players being among the choices to choose from.

Some players on this list were easier to choose than others, while others were much harder to choose from.
The starting rotation, for instance, was by far the hardest of the groups. At last count, twelve pitchers were considered. With six making the list, but all twelve deserving to make it.
The call-up of Carlos Asuaje this morning, created a slight last-minute adjustment to the bench too. River Stevens being named as his replacement as the utility player.
Another list could have almost been made up of the player’s who were left off. So much depth and talent in this system it’s ridiculous.

San Diego Padres fans get used to seeing a lot of the players on this and the top-30 prospects list for years to come. A.J. Preller has done a magnificent job of turning the minor league system to the best in all of baseball.
