The San Diego Padres announced today they have placed rookie, Cory Spangenberg, on the 15-Day DL and recalled second baseman, Jedd Gyorko, from Triple-A El Paso.
After beginning the 2015 season by hitting just .210/.282/.311 with two homeruns, Gyorko was demoted to Triple-A two weeks ago. In his 16 games in El Paso, Gyorko has hit .279/.362/.492 with four homeruns. Hopefully Gyorko’s time in the minors has allowed him to find his swing again.
Spangenberg suffered a left knee contusion on June 28th against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Spangenberg is currently hitting .254/.304/.356 with two homeruns. Hopefully Cory will be back when his DL stint is up, the Padres will certainly miss his speed.
