Ugh, this is going to be a quick recap. Which is fitting for a 0-1 loss.

Ian Kennedy got the start on the mound for the Padres, but in the left after straining his left hamstring in the third inning.

Odrisamer Despaigne, who lost the battle for the number five starter spot, came in for the injured Kennedy and pitched like a rock-star, retiring 14 straight batters and breezing four perfect innings.

Other than Despaigne, nothing else went right for the Padres. All the excitement took place before the game even started; that new score board looks awesome.

Jedd Gyorko was worthless and hit into four double plays, some things never change. I know the rest of the season won’t go this way, but 0-1 extra-innings loss was just too much like lousy deja vu from seasons past.

The Padres will look to bounce back tomorrow. I’m particularly excited about tomorrows game because it’ll be my first (of many) of the season.

Talk to you tomorrow, Friar Faithful!
