In recent years, San Diego Padres fans have been able to find ample opportunities to express their joy with the team. They were making huge trades for guys like Juan Soto, signing Manny Machado and other stars, and seemed to be in the thick of everything around baseball. Eras like these create entire generations of fans that are just having the time of their lives.

Unfortunately, this also means that things like the Padres Rap Guys are born.

Look, we all can be awkward and celebrate in our own weird ways. However, taking what has to be one of the most cringe musical performances of all-time and subjecting the rest of humanity to it feels a bit unnecessary. But that's exactly what happened during the 2022 NLCS when a group of friends decided to willingly be filmed doing the "That's What's In" rap or whatever the heck it was.

To say that reactions to this phenomenon were mixed is a bit of an understatement, and at least one group of MLB experts isn't willing to forget how bad it was.

MLB Network absolutely cooking the Padres Rap Guys is objectively hilarious

MLB Network's Mark DeRosa immediately saying "do not let those guys out of prison" to start the above clip absolutely sent us. The crew was reflecting on when the clip/offense in question was shared on social media as well as the subsequent reactions ("don't put this evil on us" was a personal favorite reaction here) and DeRo was not having any of it. He was calling them jabronis and saying that the song tanked the team's season on the spot. He even threw in a "straight to jail" as a nice Parks and Rec reference. Incredible.

Did the Padres Rap Guys curse the 2022 team with their abomination? It is hard to say. Was the song so bad that they also cursed the 2023 Padres and led the team to that dumpster fire of a season we all had to suffer through? We'll leave that for future sociologists to study and decide.

We are at least glad that sanity is prevailing with this over at MLB Network so long as DeRosa has a microphone attached to his chest.
