Blink-182 guitarist (and Padres fan) Tom DeLonge gave Kyle Higashioka amazing gift

Kyle Higashioka is off to a hot start in the San Diego Padres' postseason run. The catcher put an exclamation point on the Padres' 4-0 Wild Card-opening win over the Braves with a solo homer in the eighth inning. He homered in the next game, too.

And before the game on Oct. 1, Blink-182 guitarist and San Diego native Tom DeLonge threw the ceremonial first pitch. The Padres fan lifted his arms to excite the crowd and, of course, stuck around for the game. He saw Higashioka's blast and was inspired to drop him off a gift he'll never forget.

Higashioka walked into the Padres' clubhouse the next day to find a guitar leaning against his locker — a Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster in surf green, to match the one DeLonge played in Blink-182's "All The Small Things" music video.

The usually stoic catcher lit up when he saw the gift. He treated the clubhouse to some of his musical stylings, including the riff from "All The Small Things." Higashioka flexes his guitar talent often enough that Padres rookie Jackson Merrill has an autographed picture of the veteran playing taped above his locker, per Kevin Murphy of MLB.com.

Higgy's a massive music fan, so it's obvious how appreciative he was. Hours after he received the guitar, he homered again to open the Padres' scoring in Game 2. San Diego went on to win, 5-4, and will drive up the road to meet the Dodgers for their first date in the NLDS on Oct. 5. Though LA still bests San Diego when it comes to celebrity fandom, the Pads have a wild card in their corner with DeLonge. Blink-182 has been touring over the last year, too, so there's certainly some national attention to garner from his fandom.

The Padres will need to do all the small things to get ahead of the Dodgers, who just beat them in a three-game series in the regular season's final week. Maybe DeLonge should accompany them to LA to keep Higgy's hot streak going. If they can't make it out of the DS, though, queue up "Family Reunion" on the playoff playlist.
