The Padres are inching closer to a sale as days pass, with John Seidler looking to find a qualified taker to meet the lofty asking price.
The decision to sell comes after the death of John’s brother, Peter, who passed away at age 63 in November 2023. Since taking over the reins of the franchise, John has overseen two playoff appearances and one playoff series win.
With rumors of a potential sale of the franchise, fans have the right to ask themselves plenty of question. Who will the new owner be? What will be his philosophy in winning? How will he make the franchise better.
John Seidler tries to end the relocation panic as Padres sale chatter heats up
Current Golden State Warrior owner Joe Lacob, along with guys like Dan Friedkin and José E. Feliciano, have shown interest in the potential purchase of the San Diego Padres franchise.
Amongst all the uncertainty regarding upper management, one thing remains set in stone, and it is that the Padres have no interest in relocating.
John Seidler made his intentions clear that the Padres have no business relocating, and that means that fans should not fret about it. He will not sell to anyone that wants to leave the city of San Diego.
As a local fan, it is very unsettling to even think about your favorite team packing up and moving cities. But for Padres fans, it is incredibly comforting to know that your current owner, who is trying to sell, won’t allow the move.
A team with as much talent as it has, consisting of Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, and Jackson Merrill should stay in the city of San Diego. The fans show up every game because of this roster element, and it would be foolish to just leave them in the dust.
For now, it seems as if the Padres have no intentions of moving, and that is for the best.
