The regular season is over, and now it's time to completely pivot to the playoffs. The Friars are in the postseason for a fourth time in six years, which was backed by some pretty impressive performances from Fernando Tatis Jr., Mason Miller, Ryan O'Hearn, and others to glide San Diego to the five-seed in the National League.

While several players hit their stride in September, a few other guys got a little cold. Jake Cronenworth and Freddy Fermin didn't end the season on a good note at the plate, and Yu Darvish still hasn't quite found his footing after missing the first three-plus months of the regular season.

Jake Cronenworth

Cronenworth quietly stranded together his best season since 2021, logging a .744 OPS - his best mark in four years. He did take a bit of a dip in September, batting .222. He batted 3-for-22 in his final seven games of the regular season, but showed signs of life with two RBIs in his last contest.

Yu Darvish

Ideally, San Diego will not have to rely on Darvish much in the postseason, and he isn't necessarily in a slump. Something to slightly worry about with Darvish is that he ended the season with six straight starts while logging under six innings. He doesn't have to be an innings eater, but his longevity lately, mixed with his semi-mediocre starts, is cause for a little concern in October.

Freddy Fermin

Fermin ended the season going 0-for-15 after belting a walk-off single on Sept. 22. In his last five games of the year, he went down on strikes seven times. This tanked his overall numbers a bit, but if you remove these final few games, his production was on par with how he performed with Kansas City prior to being traded. Hopefully he turns things around soon.
