San Diego Padres: Bland but Bold Look Shown at Photo Day
The San Diego Padres held their photo day at spring training in Peoria on Sunday, giving fans a glimpse of the controversial new uniforms.
The preseason festivities continued Sunday for the San Diego Padres, as the club held their second full squad workout and annual photo day.
Rocking the new uniforms introduced by Ron Fowler and the organization in December, each player had their photo taken to be used for multiple purposes, including Petco Park’s game programs. Sunday marked the first time that the entire team was seen in their new home white jerseys.
While fans have mixed views on the new uniforms, and arguments over them can get heated, what is undeniable is just how bold this look is. It is a simpler look due to the elimination of the gold trim, but it allows the navy blue to dominate the jersey and contrast with the white background.
For fans who care about details such as the club’s uniform, photo day is a bigger deal. For those who don’t, getting the mustard and brown unis back is satisfactory, and all other discussion is irrelevant.

As for Sunday’s workout, it was another successful day despite the rain. The position players continued to get their feet wet on the field and in the batting cages, this being just their second day of action in most cases. The pitchers and catchers, having been in Peoria most of the week, are beginning to look closer to their true form.
On the injury front, everything appears to be working on schedule. Manager Andy Green updated the media on two possible starters who are ailing, Jarred Cosart and Cesar Vargas. Green stated that each is “on course” and expects Cosart to see game action within the first few games of spring training and Vargas to follow soon thereafter.
