Padres 2016 Schedule Highlights
The Padres open up the 2016 season in just a little over two months at this point, and while the team is still trying to figure out its own identity with new coaches, a new manager, and a slew of new players on the roster, rest assured there will be plenty to do at Petco Park this season.

Of course the buzz is building as Petco Park prepares to host its first ever All Star Game in the summer. In addition to that, both the Red Sox and Yankees come to town (September and early July respectively) to play in San Diego. Unfortunately for Padres fans any chance to see the retiring David Ortiz will likely be relegated to a pinch-hitter appearance or else the Red Sox rolling the dice no one will hit his direction at first base.
Additionally the Padres recently released their promotional schedule for the season and there are some fun events.
The Padres Fedora is back June 18th against the Nationals, with a post-game laser show after the July 2nd Yankees game.
Another fireworks show along with KnockAround Sunglasses is set for Friday June 17th.
The Padres twitter account also announced some theme nights last night, including a Star Wars and a ghostbuster night:
The Ghostbusters theme night is scheduled for 7/15.

It should be an exciting season around Petco Park this season. The Padres appear to have at least a modestly competitive team on the field, and if the pitching staff can exceed expectations it could be an even better year. With talent in the minor leagues on the rise, things could get better quicker than some people think. Younger players to watch this year include Colin Rea, Wil Myers, and Cory Spangenberg being given a full season to show his potential at second base.
