Game 3 Thursday, 6:10pm

TBD vs. Kyle Hendricks (0-1, 5.15 ERA)

The Padres have yet to announce a starter though it would be Odrisamer Despaigne’s spot in the rotation. Bud Black is looking into other options as Despaigne has had an abysmal two game stretch where he has allowed 15 runs in eight innings in two starts.

Hendricks pitched well against the Padres in April, striking out eight in six innings and allowed just two runs. He was tagged for five runs and eight hits in his last start.

Matt Kemp hit his only home run as a Padre against Hendricks that day. Kemp has slumped of late, hitting .216 in his last 10 games with just one walk and seven strikeouts.

The Padres need this series to go well. With Wil Myers heading to the disabled list, the team needs to step up. This is why the front office got multiple good players, to pick up the slack when someone goes down. This team is deep and now it is time to show it. Anything less than a series win would be disappointing.
