New San Diego Padres backup catcher, Will Nieves, hit a grand slam off Jake Peavy in the fourth inning to lift the Padres to a 6-4 victory.
Tyson Ross got the start on the mound for the Padres today looking to capitalize on the same success he had against the Los Angeles Dodgers last Tuesday. Ross threw six innings, giving up five hits and three runs.
The Padres offense continued it’s new hitting prowess today, putting up nine team hits. Matt Kemp (2-4) continues to remind everyone why the Padres traded for him. The Padres new right fielder is now hitting .367/.406/.533.

The victory today gave the Padres their first series victory of the 2015 season. After the first week of the regular season, the Padres find themselves with a 4-3 record and in the thick of it with the rest of the National League West division. It’s going to be a long and competitive season for the Padres, should be a lot of fun!
