Our daily Spring Training recap was off this weekend, here’s a quick recap of all the San Diego Padres match ups from this weekend:
More from Padres News
- Jurickson Profar free agency update likely rules out Padres reunion
- Fernando Tatis Jr. may not take to outfield move after Xander Bogaerts addition
- Padres News: Fernando Tatis Jr. trade rumors, Seth Lugo chase, Manny Machado
- Padres barely missed out on high-end veteran starting pitcher
- This veteran DH target seems ideal for contending Padres roster
March 27th: San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies
James Shields took the mound for the Padres, but did not have the sames success he’d had previously this Spring. Throwing 4 1/3 innings, the newly acquired ace gave up six hits and five runs. I wouldn’t panic about Shields, everyone gets roughed up at some point in spring training, guess it was just Shields’ turn.
The Padres got the victory, 7 -5.
March 28th: San Diego Padres vs. Texas Rangers
Tyson Ross dominated the Rangers, striking our 12 batters in his six innings pitched.
The Padres won this low scoring affair, 3-2.
March 29th: San Diego Padres vs. Seattle Mariners
Andrew Cashner got the victory for the Padres over the Mariners, 8-5. Cashner allowed only one run in his six innings pitched.
Matt Kemp and Wil Myers both homered. Justin Upton went 3-3 and Jedd Gyorko had two RBIs and two hits as well.
The best news out of the weekend is guys like Derek Norris, Yonder Alonso, and Jedd Gyorko as starting to get more hits and look way more comfortable than they did earlier this month. Hopefully the boys can keep their bats hot with Opening Day just one week away.
