Yesterday James Shields threw five hit less innings for the San Diego Padres, who defeated the Cubs 6-1.
Today it was Tyson Ross‘ turn on the mound as the Pads faced off against the Windy City’s other ball club, the Chicago White Sox.
Ross was in control today, throwing five innings and only giving up one hit.
The White Sox kept the Padres bats a bay until the fifth, when Cameron Maybin (2-3) doubled to drive in Jedd Gyorko and Derek Norris.
Yonder Alonso, Matt Kemp, and Carlos Quentin also got in on the action to put the Padres in a commanding 5-0 lead.
The White Sox battled back in the top of the ninth, but the Padres had already secured a large enough lead to hold on for a 10-4 victory.
The Padres will be back at it against the Seattle Mariners. Andrew Cashner is scheduled to start.
Go Pads!
