Padres News: Roster Moves – March 16th
The San Diego Padres official blog, FRIARWIRE, posted today some recent roster moves by the Pads, as they continue to ready their club for the 2015 season:
More from Padres News
- Jurickson Profar free agency update likely rules out Padres reunion
- Fernando Tatis Jr. may not take to outfield move after Xander Bogaerts addition
- Padres News: Fernando Tatis Jr. trade rumors, Seth Lugo chase, Manny Machado
- Padres barely missed out on high-end veteran starting pitcher
- This veteran DH target seems ideal for contending Padres roster
RHP Tayron Guerrero has been optioned to the Double-A San Antonio Missions.
INF Taylor Lindsey has been optioned to the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas.
Lastly, the Padres have sent RHP Justin Hancock, RHP Aaron Northcraft, OF Hunter Renfroe and C Griff Erickson to their minor league camp.
Of all the players moved today, I am most disappointed that Hunter Renfroe has already been reassigned. I did not expect that Renfroe would make the Opening Day roster this year, but Renfroe is one of the Padres’ Top-3 prospects, so I would have assumed they’d like to give him some more work against big league talent.
Plus, I will be in Peoria this weekend and the former Mississippi State outfielder was someone I was hoping to see play.
The Padres now have 54 players left in Spring Training camp, so there are 14 players that will need to be reassigned before the Padres have their final 40-man roster set for Opening Day.
What do you guys think of the roster moves by the Padres today?
