Not too much later it was reported by MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez on Twitter that Oliver had fired his trainer and negotiation representative, Rudy Santin.

Then things got very interesting.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo! sports reported this afternoon that the San Diego Padres were considering making a $50 million offer for the second baseman. Now, what does that mean exactly? Well, I’m not sure, but it sounds like the Olivera-saga may be coming to a close.

We know that the Padres have been interested in Olivera, Passan even mentioned that the Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers have already had physicals with the Cuban prospect. So official offers from both clubs should be joining the Braves’ soon.

We’ll keep you up to date as more information breaks. Stay tuned Padres fans!
