Our new look San Diego Padres are ready for Spring Training, are you? All the way back in November, A.J. Preller didn’t start off the season so successful, but was aggressive nonetheless as he went after Pablo Sandoval, and missed. Even though A.J. Preller did not get him, he still showed what he planned to do this off-season, which was be aggressive! What happened next was even more aggressive than I expected. Do you remember? I certainly do! The Padres roster started getting a total revamp in a matter of a few months. The thing with A.J. Preller, is that he never gave up, he didn’t get Pablo Sandoval, so what. He didn’t quit, and you know what he got for the Padres? Oh lets see here, Matt Kemp, Will Middlebrooks, Wil Myers, James Shields, and that’s just a few of them he made so many more moves to improve the team this off-season.

Those players who are out of San Diego at this point are Evereth Cabrera, Yasmani Grandal, Rene Rivera, Seth Smith, Jesse Hahn, Joe Weiland, and a lot of prospects from the team’s farm system. Last , but certainly not least, we can’t forget to mention that Phil Plantier, hitting coach of the Padres was shown the door, and newcomer Mark Kotsay who is a former Padre, will be taking the reigns as hitting coach for the team. What this means is that the Padres have half of their roster composed of new players.

The rest of the off-season, things were a lot calmer, with December being the busiest month for the Padres. Now the team is gearing up for Spring Training as the Pitchers and Catchers reported on February 19th, and the rest of the players report on February 25th. Are you ready for Padres Spring Training?
