Padres News: Fans Should Brace For Extra Security Lines At Petco Park
The new scoreboard in left field won’t be the only additions changing at Petco Park once the season starts. Major League Baseball has implemented new security measures to have every park equipped with metal detectors by the start of the 2015 season.
This means there will be a few more lines before entering Petco Park. There will still be the usual lines for checking bags but also there will be express lines for Season Ticket Members and fans without bags.

On top of the new security measures inside, outside of the park will feature an increase in parking prices near Petco Park. Approximately 500 parking spaces near the ballpark will be lost due to construction of the new ballpark building development that will be underway soon. Per Dennis Lin of the U-T San Diego, the Padres were leasing the “Parcel C” lot near Petco Park owned by JMI Realty, which is former Padres owner John Moore’s real estate company.
If you plan on parking at Tailgate Park and/or Parkade lots, prices will start at $20 on weekdays, $25 on Fridays and Sundays and $30 on Opening Day and Saturdays. Parkade parking will be the same price during the week at $20, $22 on Fridays and Sundays, and $25 on Opening Day and Saturdays.
