Get excited Friar Faithful! Petco Park is hosting the 2016 All-Star Game! MLB stated a few weeks ago that the top two teams to be hosting an All-Star Game were the Padres or the Marlins, and luckily our city approved the funding for the city to host the All-Star Game and all of the stars aligned for the Padres to get chosen as the hosts of the game!

The Padres haven’t hosted an All-Star Game since 1992! This could also mean that the National League will host three straight All-Star Games, with the Reds hosting this year’s, and the Marlins are now aiming for the 2017 All-Star Game, and are confident they will be the hosts.
It’s worth mentioning that if the Marlins get chosen to host the 2017 All-Star Game, it could have serious playoff implications because the National League, if they win all three games will have home field advantage in the World Series for the next three years. I for one am so excited about this because not only are the Padres making a contending team for 2015 and beyond, they are now hosting the 2016 All-Star Game, which just adds that much more excitement to the City of San Diego and their long-suffering baseball fans.
