Padres Rumors: Padres Interested In Josh Hamilton?
We’ve all known about the Padres’ push for offense this off-season. We’ve all seen the names. The Pads are close to completing a deal for an oft-injured outfielder in Matt Kemp. It’s possible, according to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, that they could have gotten a different injured outfielder from an LA team.
The Angels, according to major-league sources, have discussed a possible Hamilton trade with at least two teams this offseason, the Rangers and the Padres. The talks were exploratory in nature; they did not gain traction, and the Angels did not contact Hamilton about waiving his no-trade clause, sources said.
We’ve seen Angels GM Jerry Dipoto say guys like Howie Kendrick and Mark Trumbo aren’t available only to see them go into a deal later on.

Padres GM A.J. Preller has a history with Hamilton. Hamilton was with Texas when A.J. was there, so it does make some sense as to why the Padres would be interested.
However, can you trust a player who is aging, where he does need some special treatment, only played in 89 games due to injuries last season and will be 34-years-old in May?
I’d rather take my chances on Kemp, who’s four years younger, even with his injury history.
I think this was an example of Preller looking at players he could get to try and upgrade the offense. I can’t see Hamilton coming to Petco, though stranger things could happen.
