Padres to Acquire Justin Upton

This morning Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported that the Padres have acquired outfielder Justin Upton.

Jon Heyman had the details of the trade.

It sounds like a pretty hefty return for a one-year rental, but it is not believed to include one of the Padres’ top 3 pitchers in Andrew Cashner, Tyson Ross and Ian Kennedy, and their top 3 prospects Matt Wisler, Austin Hedges and Hunter Renfroe. Overnight the Padres have become a contender with a completely revamped outfield with the acquisitions of Wil Myers and Matt Kemp alongside Upton and an All-Star catcher in Derek Norris
