Friars On Base Winter Meetings Mid-day Recap Day #3

facebooktwitterreddit

Well Friar Faithful, we are in the middle of Day 3 of the Winter Meetings in San Diego and, the host club San Diego Padres have yet to make a move! I have to admit I find myself getting a little frustrated that the team hasn’t been able to get a big bat via a trade, however I am thrilled that the Padres are in talks for big name players, because that hasn’t happened in years. So where do the Padres stand as of the middle of the day right now? Well the Padres and Dodgers are reportedly still in talks for a Matt Kemp trade even though they are not as far along in making a deal as we were led to believe, however it still seems like the most likely deal that would go down for the Padres this week. It’s also been rumored that both the Padres and Cubs are in on Justin Upton, as both are looking and an impact bat to help immediately upgrade their respective lineups.

More from Padres News

What else is going down? Well we here at Friars On Base are proud to announce that the Padres announcer Dick Enberg has won the Ford C. Frick Award and Enberg will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Broadcaster wing in July. The Friars are also still in talks on Yoenis Cespedes, but not many reports have been given on the Cespedes deal yet, and the Padres are as of today are in talks for Mets’ pitcher Dillon Gee. So what’s next? Hopefully a trade or two going down today and tomorrow for the Pads. Make sure to keep checking back with us here at Friars On Base for all the latest regarding the Padres rumors, and transactions!
