The new title for our occasional “post o’ links” will be Padres Around the Bases from now on. If you don’t like the title, feel free to give me your suggestions in the comments section. I would have no problem changing it if you have something good. Here’s what’s going on around the Blogosphere or Sports Media sites.

As our own Victor Wang reported, the Padres are holding open auditions for the PA Announcer job. Apparently, this was not because the current PA Announcer, Frank Anthony left by choice. He is very upset at being pushed out of the job that he has had since 2004 so that the team can do an American Idol style announcer search.

Bleacher Report has their Top 10 Padres Prospects list up. Ours will be coming soon, as well. Pretty much every ranking is going to have Matt Wisler, Max Fried and Austin Hedges one, two and three. No surprise here. Our order will probably be a little different, though.

I don’t think that the trades that are mentioned in this SB Nation article on “How to fix the Padres” are possible but, they are fun to think about. Carlos Quentin to the Orioles for Bud Norris? Carlos Quentin to the Mariners for James Paxton and Dustin Ackley? That would actually be kind of exciting. It would also open up a spot for Reymond Fuentes full time.

The Padres have avoided arbitration with Ian Kennedy, Tyson Ross, Everth Cabrera and Seth Smith. I wonder what the conversations with Chase Headley are like right now, if there are any.

Keep it locked in here at FOB for updates on all of the arbitration avoiding negotiations and other news and notes.
