We'll take it.

Even though the Colorado Rockies have not been much of a threat to the San Diego Padres these last few years, the Friars always had to worry about Ryan McMahon.

A slick-fielding third baseman who has been a Gold Glove finalist three years in a row, McMahon was a Padres killer since he debuted in 2017. However, San Diego can breathe a sigh of relief, because now, the 30-year-old left-handed slugger is gone. McMahon was traded to the New York Yankees on Friday in exchange for two prospects, ending his nine-year tirade against the Friars.

Rockies trade Ryan McMahon to Yankees, making Padres fans happy

This season, McMahon had an .898 OPS against the Padres across six games, including two home runs and three walks. This opposes his .717 OPS overall for the 2025 campaign, indicating he was always ready for action against his NL West dvisional foe.

For his career, McMahon is a .270 hitter against the Padres with 17 home runs, 12 doubles, and two triples. He's driven in 54 runs, nabbing an .825 OPS spanning 107 total games. His home runs and RBIs against San Diego are the second-most against any team for his career, trailing only the Arizona Diamondbacks.

With McMahon gone, the Padres have very little to worry about when they face Colorado. They are 5-1 against the Rockies in 2025, and with McMahon out of the picture, we can expect the Padres to really step on the team's throat when they oppose them seven times in September.

With the MLB trade deadline only a few days away, the Padres have their own problems to deal with internally, but watching McMahon go is a breath of fresh air. Now, it's time for San Diego to lock in, and hopefully trade for one of (or all three) a catcher, left fielder, and starting pitcher.
