Video from crowd during Jurickson Profar drama proves Dodgers fans are the worst
In case anybody wanted definitive, undisputed proof of Los Angeles Dodgers fans being the absolute worst, we've got you covered. And don't worry, folks. It's going to get more unpleasant for the people of LA with the NLDS coming back to Petco Park in San Diego. Padres fans are about to go wild.
But on Sunday night, things got out of hand at Dodger Stadium. Fans in attendance started throwing objects on the field both from the left and right field stands. Play had to be stopped for about 15 minutes as security defused the situation.
Jurickson Profar was once again the center of it because Dodgers fans have a weird obsession with the Padres outfielder (remember that whole thing with Will Smith?!). After robbing a home run off the bat of Mookie Betts in the top of the first, Profar taunted the crowd and there seemed to be a bit of back and forth. Part of the game. All in good fun.
But things escalated to an unacceptable degree, and after a video clip from the stands surfaced on Monday, it's very much clear Dodgers fans were at fault.
In the footage, you can see Profar approach a Dodgers fan and hand him a game ball. The fan took it, looked at him, and threw it back into the field of play like a child. Then you see another fan hurl a baseball in Profar's direction, which was when the Padres outfielder called upon the umpiring crew to bring it to their attention.

Objectively, what kind of behavior is this? Were the outfield seats flooded with angsty teenagers using mommy and daddy's money to get into Dodger Stadium? Nope, these are grown adults with ... an Alex Vesia jersey? What in the world. These people stink.
Whether Profar felt in danger or not, he had every right to point out this immaturity because there's just no need for it. Two of the best teams are doing battle right before your very eyes. One of the opponents gifts you a souvenir. And this is how you react?
Dodgers fans have long been a problem when it comes to unruliness, and while this wasn't exactly one of those heinous situations, it just goes to show they're usually the antagonists even when they're not being provoked.
Bad timing, too, because now the Dodgers will have to enter a hostile Petco Park on Tuesday and Wednesday. Padres fans, make it uncomfortable, but keep it appropriate. That'll be the best revenge possible.
