After finally earning another win against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night, the eyes of the baseball world will be on Petco Park on Sunday night as ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball pays a visit. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. (Pacific) and can be seen across all ESPN platforms.

A pair of trade deadline pickups will get the starts for the NL West rivals, with Lance Lynn taking the mound for Los Angeles and Rich Hill opposing him and making his Padres debut.

Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts have faced Lynn the most, with Machado going 4-for-13 and Bogaerts struggling to a 1-for-17 line.

By the way, with Hill starting for the Padres, that's now his 13th MLB team where he will take the field. He is becoming the ultimate Immaculate Grid cheat code.

San Diego Padres news: A look at the postseason chances

With an 8-3 win over the Dodgers on Saturday night, San Diego is now 55-56 and just 3.0 games out of the final NL Wild Card spot. The Padres are also just 1.5 games behind the free-falling Arizona Diamondbacks in the standings. Arizona has lost five straight games and is just 2-8 in their last 10 outings.

That Arizona stumble and San Diego showing signs of life in recent games has pushed San Diego's postseason odds (via FanGraphs) to 46.4 percent. Those are the third-best posteason odds in the NL West behind Los Angeles (98.8 percent) and the San Francisco Giants (76.4 percent). According to those FanGraphs odds, San Diego is in line for the third Wild Card spot, with Philadelphia (75.7 percent) and San Francisco grabbing the first two.

We'll be watching and cheering the Padres on as they continue to not only pursue that elusive .500 mark, but also continue to improve their 2023 postseason odds.
