At this point, San Diego Padres fans (and baseball fans in general) are just begging for anything to happen. While Monday was reasonably busy with moves, most of the big names on the trade market are still out there, and the morning of the trade deadline has been remarkably tame.

For the Padres in particular, it has been suspiciously quite since San Diego traded for Jason Adam to bolster their bullpen. AJ Preller's track record is such that we can probably expect him to do more before the deadline, but the quiet before the storm has been a little bit jarring, and might speak to the rumored restraint that the Padres may be exercising this go 'round.

That said, the trade rumor mill does appear to be warming up a bit, as trusted Marlins beat writer Craig ish reported that Miami was close to trading reliever Trevor Rogers away to an unknown team. This should be relevant to Padres fans, as the radio home for the team retweeted that report with a fun emoji.

Padres Rumors: Did San Diego radio station foreshadow a Trevor Rogers trade?

The reality here is that 97.3 The Fan is probably in the same boat of the rest of us. With as quiet as things have been, any news that COULD involve the Padres is fun to at least think about. This potential trade is no different.

Much of the shine on Rogers has worn off since he was a first-round pick back in 2017. That said, he has still been a decent lefty starter, albeit with some issues with walks and a declining strikeout rate. Rogers is under team control through 2026 and has decent stuff, so he could be a fun piece of pitching depth, even if it wouldn't be the blockbuster move that San Diego fans are clamoring for.

We should know very soon where Rogers is headed either way, and even if it turns out that he isn't coming to San Diego, it feels very likely that Preller has some plans in the works over the next few hours.
