While the San Diego Padres got swept this past weekend by their rival, we can find recent success from the organization's Triple-A affiliate, El Paso. The Chihuahuas ravaged their way to a six-game sweep over Reno, which includes three veteran players erupting at the plate en route to some impressive hitting streaks.
Also in the Friars' farm, Kruz Schoolcraft has already cracked the Top 100 prospects list. The 2025 first round draft pick hasn't pitched in pro ball yet, but he brings plenty to the table that has fans and experts excited for what's to come.
Three Triple-A veterans extend impressive hitting streaks in Padres' minor leagues
The longest hitting streak among the red-hot El Paso hitters in veteran catcher Rodolfo Durán. The 27-year-old has a hit in every game in August, and he enters the new week riding an 11-game hitting streak.
Over this span, Durán has amassed 23 hits, 13 runs scored, five home runs, and 15 RBIs. He had just four home runs all season prior to going on this hitting streak.

Another Chihuahua who has secured at least one hit in every game this month is 27-year-old third baseman Will Wagner. Wagner comes into this week on a 12-game hitting streak, batting 19-for-54 (.352) over this span with 12 RBIs, eight runs, and four extra-base hits.
Wagner was traded from the Blue Jays to the Padres in exchange for Brandon Valenzuela on July 31. So, these 12 games are all he's played so far in San Diego's minors. Not a bad start for him.
The third El Paso hitter on a tear right now is 29-year-old second baseman Clay Dungan. With 24 doubles, 11 home runs, and seven triples in Triple-A this season, it's no surprise that Dungan is playing well. But, this past week was even more consistent.
Dungan is on a seven-game hitting streak, clipping nine hits over the span with six runs scored, and four RBIs.
Padres' Kruz Schoolcraft is already garnering national attention
Given a signing bonus just over $3.6 million, the Padres strongle believe that Schoolcraft is going to be their next great pitcher. Standing 6-foot-8, the left-handed pitcher can reach the high 90s on his fastball, which mixes very well a plus slider and changeup.
Schoolcraft enters the Minor League Baseball Top 100 list at No. 100 despite ever pitching in a professional game. This just goes to show you the potential that the Oregon high schooler already has. He will be a name to watch for the next few years as he develops into a hopeful ace.
With their first round selection the Padres Select Kruz Schoolcraft, LHP, Sunset HS, Portland, Ore.
