Now that the ownership battle has settled, John Seidler is officially in charge of our San Diego Padres. Being just a day away from the start of the 2025 season, here is his message to the Friar Faithful. This offseason has been a challenging to put it lightly. From the uncertainty of ownership and free agency, we as fans were not sure what to expect. But reading that message, there are some clear takeaways that should make Padre fans excited going into this season.
John Seidler offers reassurance to fans ahead of Opening Day
"Our goal was to build a consistent winning team that would earn the love and support of our fans while delivering San Diego's first World Series Championship" - The culture that has been built from the fans to the players around Petco Park has been special. There is simply no other way to say it.
With attendance numbers consistently in the Top 5 of MLB, San Diego has become a city that is one of the harder environments to play in as an opposing team. This is a direct result of the Peter Seidler ownership group investing in the talent on the roster, and President of Baseball Operations A.J. Preller continuing to be aggressive in the trade market while maintaining a farm system centered around growth. This is the organizational identity that has led to the undeniable connection from franchise to fan.
"We have a talented major league team that is ready to compete and is fueled by you" - While the Dodgers have had by far the busiest off-season of anyone, let's not forget the talent that exists on this Padres roster. Headlined by Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jackson Merrill, Michael King, Luis Arraez, etc., this is a ball club that can compete with anyone on a nightly basis. Last year, this team went 43-20 in the 2nd half of the season (best in MLB) and was a game away from taking down the eventual World Series champions. To put it bluntly, the talent needed to be a top team once again this year already exists in this clubhouse. Along with that, manager Mike Shildt has proven to possess a message that resonates with his players.

The NL West is certainly not an easy division to exist in, but the roster that the Padres possess has been something this fan base and city have been craving for decades. They have experienced success with one another for years now, and not having reached the top of the mountain, so to speak, can be the very catalyst that gets this franchise over the hump. Opening Day is just a day away, and as any baseball fan knows, the best part about that day is every team has a chance to achieve the ultimate goal of winning a World Series. So why not the 2025 San Diego Padres?
