It really is like having a cheat code on the mound when it's Mason Miller's turn to pitch. He has the mind-boggling metrics. He has the intimidating walk-out song. Now, Miller is adding yet another notch to his belt of impressive feats during his stint with San Diego.
Miller is headed towards a franchise record. Following his three-strikeout inning against the Mariners on Thursday night, Miller's scoreless streak moved to 30.2 innings — passing the late Randy Jones for second-best in Padres history.
Mason Miller is within striking distance of registering Padres' scoreless streak
In 31 career outings with the Friars, Miller has allowed two total runs, which were allowed in the same game — his second appearance as a Padre. On August 5, he surrendered two runs against the Diamondbacks. No one has scored against him since. He has struck out 39 batters during this stretch, scattered five hits, and issued 10 walks. It's straight up diabolical numbers.

Cla Meredith owns the Padres' longest scoreless streak which, lasted 33.2 innings in 2006. That was Meredith's rookie season. He recorded a 1.07 ERA in 50.2 innings that year, compiling 37 strikeouts and a 0.711 WHIP.
Miller is somehow mowing through those numbers in 2026. He has a 0.214 WHIP, -1.45 FIP (yes, a negative FIP!), and 22.2 K/9. His fastball, which can reach 104 MPH, might not even be his pitch. His slider is causing hitters to swing and miss three-quarters of the time. It's just not fair.
No one has a good read on Mason Miller. The way he's pitching, it would be a surprise if anyone could score a run against him. He should get the Padres' longest scoreless streak very soon, but by the look of it, there's a justification to expect him to go scoreless every night. That's obviously unfair, but he is pitching at an otherworldly rate.
