The San Diego Padres didn’t make many subtle moves at the 2025 trade deadline, and outfielder Ramón Laureano is already proving why that was the right call.
Just days after acquiring Laureano from the Baltimore Orioles in a buzzworthy trade deadline deal, the 31-year-old is making an immediate impact in San Diego’s lineup. In his first four games as a Padre, Laureano has gone 5-for-16 (.313) with a .625 slugging percentage, one home run, two RBIs, and a pair of runs scored, all while slotting into a lineup in need of another right-handed spark in the outfield.
Ramón Laureano is already paying off for the Padres after trade deadline deal
His biggest moment so far came on August 3, when Laureano mashed a solo shot and went 2-for-4 in a key 7–3 win over the Cardinals, helping the Padres pad their lead. Just a handful of games in, Laureano’s already showing that his brand of power and solid defense might be exactly what this team needs in the thick of a playoff race.

The trade that brought him west wasn't small. Laureano and Ryan O’Hearn were packaged together from Baltimore in exchange for six minor leaguers: LHP Boston Bateman, RHPs Tyson Neighbors and Tanner Smith, infielders Cobb Hightower and Brandon Butterworth, and utility man Victor Figueroa. It was a full-blown talent shuffle, but for a Padres team seeking edge and experience, Laureano fit the mold perfectly.
When healthy, Laureano is a proven impact bat with defensive chops. And his 2025 season stats prove he still has plenty left in the tank:
.291/.351/.535 slash line, 16 home runs, 48 RBIs, 48 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases over 85 games between Baltimore and San Diego. That’s not just serviceable, it’s starting-caliber production for a team looking to chase down a postseason berth.
For A.J. Preller and the Padres front office, the trade deadline was about more than just making moves, it was about getting results. Laureano is wasting no time delivering them.
