San Diego Padres fans already know that Mason Miller is arguably the best pitcher in all of baseball. His historic fastball, unprecedented whiff rate, and superhero-like ability to keep the opposition from getting a hit puts him in the conversation as the most dominant pitcher — not just reliever.
Despite Miller's lights-out campaign with the Padres in the back-half of the season, there are rumors that he may be traded this winter. With the rumor mill continuing to pick up steam, Miller made one thing for certain. The 27-year-old has been confirmed to join Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Padres' Mason Miller set to dominate on international stage with Team USA in World Baseball Classic
Not only will the entire world have the opportunity to watch Miller unveil his lethal fastball-slider combo, but he might have a chance to pitch in different situations. Miller was initially rumored to transition into a starting role next year, and although those conversations have simmered, this could be an ideal time for him to test those waters.
Even if he doesn't start, Team USA can deploy him whenever necessary. There's no need to wait for the ninth inning to come around for him to enter the game. Picture this: Team USA is facing Japan. It's a one-run game in which the United States has a lead. There's two outs in an inning late into the game, and Shohei Ohtani digs into the batter's box. It's Miller vs. Ohtani, two of the game's most dominant talents. Talk aobut drama, right? That would be cool, and definitely a memorable moment for Miller.
We wish him well as he represents one of the top teams in the WBC. Miller joins other recent pitching additions for Team USA, such as Twins' Joe Ryan, Tigers' Tarik Skubal, Mets' Clay Holmes, and Mets' Nolan McLean.
