San Diego Padres City Connect gear available now

The San Diego Padres City Connect uniforms have been revealed and the gear is available to purchase now at the MLBshop. Take a look below.

The San Diego Padres City Connect uniforms are a radical departure from the team’s typical identity. These aren’t your granddaddy’s uniforms.

Gone is the standard brown and gold, and in is white, mint green, yellow and pink.

The design was meant to pay homage to the cultural connections between the United States and Mexico. Those connections are amplified in San Diego, which is just 45 minutes from Tijuana, Mexico.

“I think this will be really well received by a young and diverse fan,” Padres CEO Erik Greupner told ESPN. “We really view this as an opportunity to connect in a deeper and more meaningful way with young and diverse fans.”

The new colors represent the Baja peninsula’s beautiful sunsets and the font across the front of the jersey is a nod to the many beach signs in southern California.

You’re either going to love these or hate them. But we kind of dig the splashy new colors.

San Diego will wear the uniforms for the first time next Friday (July 8). But the gear is already available – so get your orders in now.
