San Diego Padres weather forecast for series at Cleveland Guardians’ Progressive Field

After spending a weekend visiting the Pittsburgh Pirates, the San Diego Padres are back in Ohio, this time to face the Cleveland Guardians, after sweeping the Cincinnati Reds last week.

It’s a big week for the club, as they celebrate the return of Mike Clevinger, who has been rehabbing from his November 2020 Tommy John surgery.

Cleveland forecast for May 3

There’s a brutal irony in Cleveland weather potentially ruining ‘Sunshine’ Clevinger’s first Padres start since 2020.

But it’s a real possibility, as the forecast includes “gusty winds and small hail.”

It’s been rainy all day, with thunderstorms projected starting around 5 PM, which doesn’t bode well for the 6:10 PM start. There’s a very real chance this game gets rained out for a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Cleveland forecast for May 4

Wednesday’s forecast looks better but still chillier than San Diegans are used to. Temperatures will be in the high 40s-low-50s all day and night, but the chance of rain is next-to-nothing.

Update: Padres-Guardians game postponed due to weather

As we expected, the weather won’t hold up on Tuesday. Instead, the Padres and Guardians will play a traditional doubleheader on Wednesday.
