Meet the San Diego Padres’ 2022 Opening Day roster

San Diego Padres finally reveal their Opening Day roster

The San Diego Padres worked right down to the wire to finalize their Opening Day roster, with a last-minute Minnesota Twins trade on Thursday morning before the 12 PM ET roster deadline.

But at long last, their 40-man and 28-man rosters are set. The big-league roster will reduce to 26 next month. Most notably, Chris Paddack is now with the Twins, and Fernando Tatis Jr. has been placed on the 60-day Injured List, officially guaranteeing that he will not return before June. The bright spot on the roster reveal is that C.J. Abrams made the team.

Here’s the rundown on your 2022 Padres!

Notable transactions:

  • Padres selected INF C.J. Abrams’ and OF Jose Azocar’s contracts
  • RHP Kyle Tyler has been designated for assignment
  • Optioned RHP Reiss Knehr, OF Brent Rooker to Triple-A El Paso
