After the unexpected off day yesterday, the Padres are back at it on Thursday in a doubleheader. Manny Machado got the home team on the board.

After the Mariners voted not to play yesterday in light of the actions that occurred in Kenosha, Wisconsin this past week, the Padres and M’s were set for a twin bill on Thursday. Dinelson Lamet spotted the Mariners with a three-run lead. But the reigning NL Player of the Week had something to say about it.

Manny Machado has now hit safely in eight-straight games and is hitting .533 with a 1.722 OPS during that span. The 27-year-old got off to a lousy start in the year, but he really turned it up a notch starting in the Rangers series, as highlighted by his walkoff grand slam.

The Padres will need to get it going if they want to avoid losing a series to the lowly Mariners.
