The Padres and Mariners have decided to postpone their matchup on Wednesday night amid the Jacob Blake shooting in Kenosha this week.
Amid the Jacob Blake shooting this past weekend, the Padres and Mariners are postponing their game on Wednesday evening. The Mariners, who have the most black players in the league, voted not to play in protest of the actions in Kenosha. Blake remains in critical condition after being shot by police.
As local residents to the Kenosha community, the Milwaukee Bucks were the first team to opt-out of playing in Game 5 against the Orlando Magic. Their baseball counterparts in the Milwaukee Brewers followed suit not long after.
I know this is a sensitive topic right now, especially on the heels of George Floyd’s death that rocked the country, sparking protests and riots. But something has to be done so that these terrible events can stop. I am going to leave it at that, but I wanted to share players’ reactions across all sports.

There are serious issues in this country. For me, and for many of my teammates, the injustices, violence, death and systemic racism is deeply personal. This is impacting not only my community, but very directly my family and friends. Our team voted unanimously not to play tonight

Josh Hader was the subject of racism after several controversial old tweets of his resurfaced. But it looks like he’s grown as a person since then.
Josh Hader on Bucks boycott: "I think it's a tremendous stand. This is more about sports." Says can't say yes or no on #Brewers boycott. "I'm sure it's something we are going to discuss."

Brewers first baseman Ryan Braun said the team chose not to play tonight in large part due to the Milwaukee Bucks' decision to boycott: “We saw what the Bucks decided to do, and frankly that inspired us. That motivated us. … At some point, actions speak louder than words.”
