With fantasy baseball drafts gearing up this week we look at the San Diego Padres players you must take in your draft.

Like everything else, this will be an unusual fantasy baseball season. But there are several San Diego Padres players you should consider taking in your draft.

I know a lot of people will be doing fantasy baseball drafts this week waiting until the last second because you never know when a player might test positive for COVID-19.

And if a player is going to miss the first couple of weeks of the season that’s a good portion of the fantasy baseball season in just a 60-game stretch.

So not only for our Padres fans out there, but for anyone gearing up for their fantasy baseball drafts this week, I wanted to give you a couple of names from the Padres to consider.

San Diego Padres — Must Draft

Fernando Tatis Jr.: This one is rather obvious, but you may have to consider taking him in the back half of the first round. I waited hoping I could get him in the third round of my draft and it didn’t happen.

If you really want him, and you should, then I definitely wouldn’t wait till after your second-round pick. I really think he’s in for a huge 60-game stretch and could carry your fantasy baseball team.

Chris Paddack: Just like Tatis, I think Paddack could put up monster numbers over just a 60-game season. Just look at what he did in the first two months of the 2019 season.

He went in the fourth round of my draft so you’ll have to spend a high pick to get him, but he’s certainly capable of leading a fantasy baseball rotation.

Manny Machado: While his 2019 season may have been underwhelming considering the expectations, he’s still one of the best third basemen in all of baseball.

Maybe this is wishful thinking, but I’m expecting a huge bounce-back year for Machado.

Kirby Yates: This could depend on how valuable relief pitchers are in your league, but Yates has to be up there with the best in the game.

I think the Padres will win a lot of close games, which means Yates could be racking up the saves.

Tommy Pham: The Padres new outfielder has looked good in summer camp and could be a sneaky good addition to your fantasy baseball squad.

He was taken in the seventh round of my draft (a 12-team league), so don’t wait too long.
