The San Diego Padres seek a chance to prevent a series loss, or split, against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. Here’s how to catch Game 3.

Once again, the San Diego Padres tallied the loss column thanks to their bullpen and a lack of offense.

What’s new at this point?

With September just around the corner, the Friars will have one last chance to take a look at their starters and reevaluate the team’s talent heading into the offseason. 2020 is considered to be the first year of true contention, but whether or not the talent and management is actually there is still yet to be seen.

Joey Lucchesi (9-7) will try to end August on a high note as he faces off against Logan Webb (1-0). Coming off a decent outing against the Boston Red Sox where he tossed five innings of one-run ball, Lucchesi still has a lot to prove if he wants to be a bona fide starter on the Padres rotation moving forward.

His 4.11 ERA and 1.174 WHIP are pretty much unchanged from his rookie year — San Diego was definitely hoping for more tangible progress from the former fourth-round pick. He has about a month left to make his mark on the season and it starts with Game 3 against the Giants.
