The San Diego Padres continue the series against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, so find out how to watch the Padres vs. Giants online or live tonight, with July 27’s latest MLB live stream.
This match-up will feature a battle of the rookies as the Padres roll with Cal Quantrill. Cal has had an excellent few outings since being moved into the pen, and especially since coming out of it to bolster a thin starting rotation. He’s 3-2 on the year with a 3.76 ERA and 1.177 WHIP.
The second-year starter pitched 5.2 very strong innings against the Chicago Cubs, throwing six strikeouts and no walks. He replaced Adrian Morejon, who had his MLB debut as a starter, and held the Cubs scoreless during his outing until the ninth, when he handed the keys to Kirby Yates. His prior start had been even more impressive, when he went toe-to-toe with rookie Mike Soroka in another scoreless battle; he allowed only three hits in six innings pitched.
Meanwhile, Shaun Anderson will represent the Giants in Game 2. The rookie is also 3-2 this season with a 4.91 ERA and 1.464 WHIP. He’s struggled in his last few starts, surrendering 16 runs in 18.1 innings pitched over four games.
One of those was against the Padres on July 3, when he allowed four runs off eight hits in only four innings. The Friars will hope to rattle him again this time around, so make sure to watch the Padres vs. Giants online, or catch the game on TV, Saturday night.
