Where do the San Diego Padres stand according to power rankings as the club is two weeks in? We take a look at all of the major lists.

You are what your record says you are, and the San Diego Padres are 5-8. But in the unique world of power rankings, record isn’t the sole assessment. Yes, the Padres have run into some struggles, but are there still some bright spots to take away from the first two weeks of the season?

Before losing three straight to the Braves, San Diego was a respectable 5-5. Now, as the second week of the regular season passes by, they find themselves towards the bottom where they began.

The following is a look at some of the most credible power rankings and where they place the Padres as of the conclusion of Sunday’s action.

FOX Sports: 29th

Thank you, FOX. Keep stinking, Phillies.

One Nice Thing: Wil Myers has been stellar this season. He’s slashed .455/.480/.909 over his last six games. One Not-So-Nice Thing: The Christian Bethancourt pitching experiment isn’t going well. He’s posted a 4.12 WHIP in three games this year.

ESPN: 29th

Once again, the Padres moved up a spot and eluded the bottom spot on the list. This time, they passed the Braves, despite losing three games to them this weekend by a combined score of 22-6.

Ryan Schimpf is turning into the ultimate “three true outcomes” player: He’s hitting .152, but three of his five hits are home runs, so he’s slugging .424, and he leads the majors with 13 walks, giving him a respectable .375 OBP. It’s a unique package of results, and if he keeps walking like this, he’s a useful offensive player.

CBS Sports: 24th

By far the most generous ranking for San Diego, as they jumped six spots this past week despite losing four of six games. The reason? Apparently Manuel Margot. Hey, we won’t complain.

Manuel Margot was already an exciting leadoff man, but now he’s off to a hot start.

Bleacher Report: 30th

Despite having a better record than the Phillies, the Padres rank at the bottom, and the Phillies earn the 28th slot. No explanation was written, so maybe the others are more accurate and the Padres are no longer the worst team in baseball. Three out of four say so, so that’s what we’re going with.
