Game 2 Tuesday, 7:10pm

Odrisamer Despaigne (3-6, 4.64 ERA) vs. Chris Heston (9-5, 3.39 ERA)

Despaigne’s ERA is half a run better at home than on the road. He has appeared twice against the Giants this year and has allowed just two runs in 9 2/3 innings. This will be his first start since July 4th.

Heston is 3-1 since his no-hitter on June 9th. He has faced the Padres twice and has allowed 7 runs in 12 innings. His ERA is almost double (4.44) on the road what it is at home (2.57). He has a 1.80 ERA so far in July.

Offensive Player to Watch: Matt Kemp

Kemp had a slow first half, that much is clear. But if we know anything about Mr. Kemp, it’s that he is a second half hitter. His average is seven points better from .286 to .293. His OPS goes from .818 to .852. Also, his at-bats between home runs goes down from over 28 to 22 at-bats. We have already seen evidence of this. In his last seven games he is hitting .429 with three home runs and 8 RBI. He is 2 for 6 with an RBI against Heston.
