Game 2 Wednesday, 7:15pm

Ian Kennedy (4-5, 4.53 ERA) vs. Ryan Vogelsong (5-5, 4.38 ERA)

Kennedy has been up and down all year. In two straight starts he has allowed just one run and walked just one. In his last start against the Giants on May 6th, he only allowed one run through 7 innings. He has 22 career starts against the Giants. He is 10-4 with a 2.43 ERA. This is welcome news as the Padres have struggled against the Giants at AT&T Park.

Kennedy has a 2.49 ERA in 12 starts in San Francisco. His ERA is cut in half this season when he pitches on the road.

Vogelsong pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings in his last start against the Seattle Mariners. The Padres always play him tough as he has a 5.14 career ERA against San Diego in 11 starts.

Matt Kemp is hitting .343 with a home run against Vogelsong.

Buster Posey leads NL catchers in All-Star voting. He leads the Giants in home runs with 10.
