By John Hiatt
During this past season the Padres television network Fox Sports San Diego, got the highest ratings it has ever gotten airing Padres games, the network has been airing the Padres games since the 2012 season.
The Padres 2014 ratings to finish off the season on Fox Sports San Diego was a nice rating of 3.06 which is up by 25.3 percent from the 2013 season. In San Diego a rating point accounts for 10,000 households. Fox Sports San Diego aired over 150 games this year and 26 of them hit over a 4.0 rating mark, which is excellent for Sports broadcasts.
On August 2nd, the Padres VS. Braves game his a 5.4 rating which turns out to be the highest rating to date for a Padres Broadcast on FSSD. When FSSD went head to head with ESPN locally the came out on top getting a 4.14 rating to ESPN’s 1.52 for an August 20th game against the Dodgers, and following that up with a 4.23 against ESPN’s 0.76 for a September 3rd contest against the Diamondbacks
It’s safe to say that even though the 2014 Padres didn’t fare to well this year, the Padres have loyal fans that will watch them root for them no matter what type of season the team is having.
