Interesting tweet from the Padres top second base prospect Cory Spangenberg:
cant believe my childhood dream has come true! want to thank my family friends and all the support from the #570!

With Chris Nelson on paternity leave, the Padres could use another infielder. It looks like Spangenberg will be that guy. If he is, could the Padres start him at second and move Jedd Gyorko back to third? That’s another question for another day.
Spagneberg can play second, third and and the outfield, so it give the Padres some flexibility as to where to play him.
For AA San Antonio, Spangenberg hit a very impressive .331/.365/.470 line with two homers, 22 RBI and 14 steals.
Spangenberg was the 10th pick in the 2011 draft, drafted right after the Cubs took Javier Baez and right before George Springer. He was also picked ahead of current major leaguers Kolten Wong, Sonny Gray and C.J. Cron.
