15. Alex Dickerson
That’s right, we have yet another unranked prospect in the Padres organization breaking into our countdown at #15.
Dickerson is a local kid out of Poway High School who was acquired by the Padres in a trade with the Pirates last November. The right fielder put up great numbers in 2013 in Double-A and displayed a bit of power. Dickerson hit .288 with 17 home runs and 10 stolen bases through 126 games.
Things were looking up for Dickerson at the beginning of the Spring Training. In 25 at-bats, Dickerson had 7 hits including 3 doubles and 2 home runs. Unfortunately, his Spring ended with a badly sprained ankle that he suffered during warm ups. After having MRIs, the organization would discover a hole in Dickerson’s heel, an abnormality that could lead to a career ending injury if left untreated. Dickerson opted to have surgery to correct the abnormality.

Dickerson joined San Antonio on July 16th and has been hitting well. The future Friar is hitting .295 with 11 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 home runs. Two of those home runs came within the last week. The most recent came last night in the form of a fifth inning grand slam. The one before that? A 13th inning, 3-run, walk off home run last Sunday.
The kid’s got a future.
