Single-A: Fort Wayne TinCaps (57-72)

The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost to the Lake County Captains last 8-7. Trea Turner had a decent night at the plate going 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, but was also a victim of the strikeout thrice. Turner has played well and if he doesn’t have a sophomore slump he will be one of the first first round picks of the Padres to progress through the minors and show significant promise in the last few years if not the last decade.

TinCaps DH Jake Bauers continues to have a solid season; he went 1-for-3 in last night game with a 2-run home run. Bauers is my favorite prospect to follow in the Padres system. He is having tremendous success at such a young level and could help us forget that we traded away Adrian Gonzalez by playing a strong 1B. Bauers will need many more years of seasoning and at best won’t make it to the Majors until 2017.
