Single A: Fort Wayne TinCaps (53-67)

It was a good night in Fort Wayne. Eight of the nine batters in the lineup got a hit in the TinCaps 3-2 victory over the Great Lakes Loons. The Padres’ 2014 first round pick isn’t showing signs of slowing, and their number fifteen prospect now has hits in back to back ballgames. Future Padres third baseman, Dustin Peterson also got back on track with a hit after going 0-for-12 with four strikeouts in the previous three ball games.

It was the TinCaps who got on board first. Despite going 0-for-4 in last night’s ballgame, Josh VanMeter did manage to contribute to the game in the second inning via RBI groundout to get Fort Wayne on the board. Three batters later and it was VanMeter who scored on a Fernando Perez single to right field.

In the top of the fourth, the Loons would get a run back on a home run to left.

Neither team would score again until the top of the ninth inning when Great Lakes would plate a runner on a sacrifice fly to center. The next batter would double to right fielder, Franmil Reyes, who would throw out the baserunner at home to end the inning.

Extra Baseball.

In the bottom of the tenth, the TinCaps would walk-off on a Franmil Reyes sacrifice fly to center field with no outs and the bases loaded. Trea Turner would score the winning run on the play.
