Single A: Lake Elsinore Storm (69-58)

As the caped crusader famously said in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins …

STORM’S COMING.

That’s right! After losing ten of first fifteen games in August, the Lake Elsinore storm have won their last two road games against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to take a share of first place in the California League South! Lake Elsinore brought the hurt to the Quakes in this 6-1 victory.

Elliot Morris dazzled for the Storm in his start tonight. Morris went six innings and struck out eight. His only earned run came on a home run in the bottom of the fourth. Morris only allowed three hits outside of the home run.

Their was no scarcity of drama. Lake Elsinore waited until the eighth inning before scoring, and they didn’t stop until they had batted around the order. The Storm scored five in the eighth off of four singles, a double, two walks, a free pass on a strikeout on a wild pitch, and a stolen base.

Lake Elsinore added insult to injury by scoring again in the top of the ninth. The Quakes couldn’t answer the call in their last chance at the plate and now find themselves sharing the top spot.

The Storm may have had a rough start to the month and piled up a lot of losses underneath these last two wins, but remember:

It’s not who you are underneath, it’s what you do that defines you.

And right now, Lake Elsinore is winning.
