The surging Padres might have had the night off, but their MiLB affiliates went 1-3 with some impressive outings by future Friars.

Triple A

The El Paso Chihuahuas (55-62) were downed by the Reno Aces 4-3. Both teams struggled offensively, as they combined for just 11 total hits. Reno was already leading 3-1 in the 6th inning when they extended their lead to 4-1 on back-to-back errors by Taylor Lindsey and Rymer Liriano. The Chihuahuas rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning on a Jonathan Galvez RBI double and fielder’s choice that plated Cody Decker. The rally died when Taylor Lindsey popped out to the third baseman in foul territory, stranding the tying run on second and the go ahead run on first.

The offense was working for both teams as the game was tied 6-6 heading into the top of the 9th inning. The 66ers batted around the order easily as Lake Elsinore pitching unraveled after an error, allowing six runs including a grand slam.
